My Own Private Idaho.

This is a phrase taken directly from the 1980 dance pop song, "Your Own Private Idaho" by the outrageously awesome band, the B-52's.

It means "living inside an Idaho potato", or a very small space. Metaphorically, it refers to someone who is not paying attention because he is daydreaming, or under the influence, or otherwise wrapped up within his own very narrow sphere of interest or frame of reference.

Tis' the season.....

...to bake. Well, I got that baking bug again this holiday season, but this year along with everyone else, I have little time to do the holiday things I enjoy.

So I experimented. I took a store bought mix - Trader Joe's Deep Dark Gingerbread Baking Mix, substituted the vegetable oil with equal parts nonfat apple sauce, and baked in two tiny loaf pans. About 40 mins later (took an extra 10 mins than on the box) - 'wa-la!' two tasty loaves were done and making our kitchen smell like the holidays.

I then made my own whipped cream - it's so easy!

2 cups whipping cream
1/4 cup sugar
vanilla to taste

Whip on high with your mixer - and you have a tasty topping.

I'm thinking of making more and handing out as neighbor gifts - along with a quick recipe for whipped topping.

It's easy and affordable.

sometimes, it just takes a good song, some tasty coffee, and a little bit of positivity to make the world go round.

Baby
It’s been a long day, baby.
Things ain’t going my way
you know I need you here
here by my side
all of the time

And Baby, the way you move me its crazy.
it’s like, you see right through me, you make it easier,
You please me and you don’t even have to try.

oh because,
you are the best thing
you are the best thing
you are the best thing
ever happened to me

Baby,
We’ve come a long way, baby.
you know, I hope and I pray that you believe me
When I say this love will never fade away

oh because
you are the best thing
you are the best thing
you are the best thing
ever happened to me

Now both of us have known love before,
To come on up promising, like the spring, just walk on out the door.
Our hearts are kind and are hearts are strong.
well, let me tell you what exactly is on my mind.

you are the best thing
you are the best thing
you are the best thing
ever happened to me

you are the best thing
you are the best thing
you are the best thing
ever happened to me

yeah, yeah
yeah, yeah, yeah,
now, now, now, now
