Just Do It.

my new year's resolution - this new year's eve 2008? to "do" it.

we all see it done, we all copy from something else (looks like nike might have enjoyed this 1982 Clairol campaign a lot...), we all say, "I could do that", but we don't.

So this year, 2008, I'm going to do it. I'm going to make a change and do something - something I've always wanted to do and can do.

here's to a year filled with hope and lots of to do-s (the good ones.)

idea time.

i'm home for christmas this year and i'm obsessing over doing something with my hands. i want to create some jewelry, make a card, design something new, develop the idea/the name of my store i will have one day....

recently, my husband is trying to guide me to really take my crafting to the next level and get my jewelry line back on track, back in stores, back in working mode. i've been sooooo busy with life that my real life has been put to the backside. i want to create again. i need to. i wonder what i'll make next.

Here's to "first-s"

The first snowflakes fell today here in Seattle. I'm sitting in front of my computer, drinking tea, in one of this season's big puffy sleeve sweater smiling to myself. It's the first day of December and we have snow!

I also truly enjoy the fact that this is our first day to open our Advent calendar- Day "1". We have the one from Starbucks this year - which is a cool, affordable, and reusable one - now that is a first.

hello my name is michael - I like to do drawwwwings.

Illustrations, illustrations, illustrations. You've all seen them - Daily Candy is not new to any of us - if you like sales and shopping. And Nordstroms illustrations assigned to designer lines and their holiday campaigns are a reliable reality. I'm just really 'drawn' to them lately - I dig the soft edges against the harsh computer layouts or photographs.

It all reminds me of my days of Barbie coloring books - the cool ones from the 70's that is...

visually pleasing....

summer long gone....

It's that time of year again here in Seattle - where the days are filled with gray and the plants no longer need my help. The sky keeps them moist - and my mind dreams of the sun.

Ways to boycott the gloom:
1. buy colorful rain gear
2. plan a vacation to a sunny surf spot
3. dream about my vacation
4. get sidetracked with holiday music
5. invest in self tanner

growing up so fast....

i can remember the day I put a folder of content onto a coders desk to code - then I was taught enough HTML to live through the changes I needed done at 10:30 pm on a work day...then at my job in the latest content management system required to code in XML - okay basic XML once the templates were created.... Then ways around SEO, SEM...

it's all growing up so fast. i need to stay ahead - i need to read more - i need to think more - i need to do more - i need to be accessible more - i need to listen more - i need to sleep more - i need to exercise more - i need to....

we're all growing up so fast. now where's my pen?

time flies.

...when you're having fun, right? I've been working, getting married, finding time to be with my man, trying to get fit - and then just thinking a lot. (all instead of blogging-oops.) thinking about what makes me tick - and what i'm going to do about it.

i figured it out - it hit me a few days ago. i need to bring creativity back into my daily life. yes, i think about it, i dream of doing it again - even more this time, but when am i going to get off of this desk chair and do it?

what would the wise hawaiian sea turtle say?

"whatcha waiting for?"

soundtrack to life.

Let's have a soundtrack.

We could walk in the streets all listening to a song that would make us feel something more than frustration, smile to ourselves, remember a sweet time in our lives.

Some people would dance in the streets - some would skip by our windows as we watch from the corner Starbucks. We'd see their smiles and in return, feel touched.

found, not lost.

a mood. a song. a feeling.
the radio is on the background
and suddenly something reaches out
grabs you in
and makes you think again.
Lost To The Lonesome Pela lyrics

Hey, we should crash the party on christmas eve
hey, we should write our name on every wall we see
hey, we should break our wallets at every bar
hey, we could break the bed without broken hearts
la la la la
and we could leave the lonely and lost to their lonesome hearts

don't just stand there with your face in your hands
don't just stand thereclean up your broken glass!

hey, we should crash the party on new years eve
hey, we should write our name on every wall we see
la la la la

and we could leave the lonely and lost to their lonesome hearts
don't just stand there like a ghost in my room
don't just stand there with that same old t.v. set
don't just stand there pointing out west

and don't stand there telling me i'm nothing
don't just stand there just tell me i'm something
don't just stand there just tell me i'm something
don't just stand there i am something

Finding the perfect one...

I found the guy, but now I'm looking for the perfect fish taco to serve at our wedding. The summer days are filling the calendar with nights that seem to last all night long and allow me to research the night away for our reception meal. I'm obsessed with finding the right one to serve at our wedding - less than 75 days away!

All this hard work is making me hungry. Here's to summer and the perfect taco.

twitting my time away...

It's been 2 months and 9 days since I blogged. wow. I guess I've been busy since February. Now it's 3 months and something like 27 days till I'm married.
Okay seriously, where does the time go. As I sit here on a Friday night - researching on my computer new marketing ideas, I see that I can spend even more time on my computer telling people where I am.

Me on twitter: I'm at work
You on twitter: I'm at the mall

see the excitement brewing?

I can create a profile on twitter - and literally "twit" my time away - telling my new (?) online friends where I am, what I'm doing, what I'm thinking... Just think, they might even care?

But is this another marketing tool for me? I can now market my ideas, my locations, me me me me.

or maybe it's just time for me to log off.

year of the boar.

"If you were born in 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983 or 1995 - you were born under the sign of the pig. Like the pig, you are highly regarded for your chilvary and pureness of heart, and you often make friends for life. For pigs in 2007, any recent setbacks or obstacles can be overcome so look forward to a year in which to really shine, either personally or professionally.

The pigs are the nicest and most deferential of all. And this makes others to think that pigs are obstinate and stuck-up. But as a matter of fact, Pigs are very benevolent. The go out of their way to make their family and friends pleased.

But many a times this very trait of theirs works against them. They so much get involved in their own world that they stop socializing. This also hampers their future so much so that they become myopic of the opportunities that can make their life better.Besides, Pigs are born intellectuals and have great fire for wisdom. They are also passionate lovers of luxury. When it comes to luxury their sole motto is the more…. the better."

Yep, that about sums it up. I'm a PIG. Happy Chinese New Year.

Flying can sometimes fill your entire day if you're traveling. We think it speeds up our day, but sometimes, it can actually slow you down and allow you to catch up on things you might have been putting off.

I can't imagine getting through my emails on a vintage 2 seater though. That would've been somewhat difficult.

Sometimes when i'm feeling low, i go out and splurge and buy a new pen. Getting a new instrument in my hand helps something move through me, especially if it feels stuck.

Along with the new pen, a font can do the trick too. I was taken in by this one - "easily amused" and it's name - you really can't be a lowecase font surrounded by stars.

Two cheap and easy fixes to the mudane day ahead.

Tonight the wind rounds our 1908 house - whipping around the it almost trying to keep us awake. Seattle weather is crazier than people told me it would be. Just tonight I walked up to my front door and was actually pushed inside.

I can't believe how the weather is and how quickly it changes. Strange and interesting thing, I've always been drawn to it - and it is always something I watch with one eye open. Weather ran my life for years being a surfer, telling me when I can and can't do something I love.

So you see, tonight the wind is a'comin.... 25 mph from the South. Due to this, I searched for a 'wind' image and found her - Little Wind, with one eye opened watching the weather.
